Rocks, Minerals and Fossils

A geologist by training, Una teaches children about the formation of the Earth and the rocks and landscape of their locality.

A visit often involves a PowerPoint presentation with associated hands-on activities, such as rock and mineral examination and testing.

This is an indoor activity lasting approximately 90 minutes depending on the age of the class and Una can cater for up to 3 classes during the school day.

Field Trips Heritage in Schools

Field Trips

Field visits to locations outside the school can also be arranged if the teachers know of a safe suitable outdoor location and can arrange transport and access for the children and get permission to use the site if necessary.

Previous field visits with schools have included activities such as exploring the wildlife in a local stream, hunting for mini-beasts in a park and investigating trees and wild flowers along a river bank pathway.

Biodiversity Heritage in Schools

Nature and Biodiversity

Una can also provide workshops on biodiversity including investigations of trees and mini-beasts in the school grounds.

Workshops can involve identification of habitats and investigations of trees, wildflowers and or minibeasts in the school grounds or elsewhere. Workshops can be run with or without a classroom talk.

Visits can be structured to suit your own requirements.
