My parents have walked from Athy to Carlow in the past. It's handy because you can leave a car at one end and get the train to the other before walking back, but it would be a bit long for Michael yet. Maybe in a few year's time.

It’s 8.5 km from Athy to Levitstown Dee and with the extra 3.5km to Maganey, that would be 12km in total and 20km if you go from Athy all the way to Carlow. We had to go to Athy to pick Michael up from school anyway. We parked my car there and walked home and then Trevor dropped me back in for it later. Transport is the main issue for these walks really. To keep the walks short enough for Michael, we'll need to bring 2 cars each time and leave one at each end. It's fine really, it just takes a bit of planning. I have a spreadsheet where I've worked it all out :)

This one was easy enough for us Lorna.
